NCAA Football 13 is an American footballvideo game published by EA Sports and developed by EA Tiburon. It is the successor to NCAA Football 12 in the NCAA Football series.

Cover[edit]

On February 27, 2012, it was announced that former Baylor quarterback and 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III will be the cover athlete for the game.[1] The cover also features past Heisman Trophy winner Barry Sanders. A fan vote beginning March 12 allowed fans to choose between Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Doug Flutie, Desmond Howard, Charlie Ward, Andre Ware, Eddie George, and Herschel Walker to appear on the cover alongside Griffin.[2][3]

Rule changes[edit]

NCAA Football 13 will include two rule changes which will be taking effect in NCAA Division I (A) FBS games in the 2012–13 season. The first rule change is the location of the ball on kickoffs, where the ball will be moved up 5 yards, in conjunction with NFL kickoff standards which took effect in the 2011–12 season. Players will also need to stay within 5 yards of the ball on kickoff to prevent a running head start. The second rule change affects kickoffs and other free kicks where if a player gets a touchback the ball will start on the 25 yard line instead of the 20.[4]

Gameplay[edit]

A number of gameplay enhancements and improvements were implemented in NCAA Football 13. Among those are enhancements to the Quarterback position including: 20 new quarterback dropbacks, 25 pass trajectory zones (compared to 1 the year before), a number of Quarterback sack avoidance moves, 430 new pass animations and more (not including the others from previous years). Also on offense, wide receivers now have better awareness, where icons will now show the level of readiness a receiver has as they look for the ball. On defense, players were supposed to now have to see the ball to make a move and will no longer be able to make 'blind swats, a feature that ultimately was not completely added to the game, as blind swats and interceptions still occur, although they are less common.'[5] A new feature in the game is 'Reaction Time', which is available in 'Road to Glory' and 'Heisman Challenge', where the player can hold down the left trigger to slow down the game, which allows players to have time to decide what to do. The game also allows to return kicks and punts.[6]

In 'Road to Glory', users can create new players and coaches to track their careers. Players start in high school, and they can select up to five colleges of interest. Coaches can start out as offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator or head coach, and may elect to accept or decline coaching offers at other colleges as their careers progress. High school names, teams, stadiums and colors can be customized by the user, and new high schools can be added through the game's online feature.

Exporting draft classes to Madden NFL was removed in this version of the game, due to compatibility issues with Madden NFL 13.[citation needed]

New teams[edit]

Three new NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams were added to NCAA Football 13:Massachusetts (UMass), Texas–San Antonio (UTSA), and Texas State. UTSA and Texas State will be joining the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) for the 2012 season,[7] while UMass will join the Mid-American Conference (MAC).[8]South Alabama is also joining the FBS in 2012, but was not included in the game.[9]

NCAA Football 13: Custom Conference Ideas
One of the great features in NCAA Football 13’s Dynasty Mode is the ability to make custom conferences. You might be surprised at how much longevity custom conferences add to Dynasty Mode. In this column, I talk about a few ideas for custom conferences that I’ve enjoyed using.
The Top Twelve
This one’s pretty simple: place the top twelve teams into a conference together, updating the conference’s membership each year based on the final rankings from the prior year. By allowing the biggest heavyweights to slug it out against one another, you’ll see which team emerges from the wreckage as conference champion. The biggest disadvantage is that you can give only one automatic BCS bid to this super-conference, which probably will deserve several bids.

A future Sun and Fun Conference matchup?!
The Cali-Florida Conference
California has seven FBS teams. So does Florida. Let each state’s teams constitute a division of this powerful conference, which would feature USC, Stanford and Cal as the heavyweights of the California division and Florida, Florida State and Miami as the heavyweights of the Florida division. The conference champion wins the right to claim that their state has better beaches.
The Texas League
Texas has more FBS teams than any other state with 12. Why not keep these schools together to battle for a state championship? Texas is the obvious heavy hitter, but TCU isn’t far behind. Baylor, Texas A&M and Texas Tech will be waiting in the wings for the Longhorns and Frogs to slip up. It’s a rough introduction to FBS football for Texas State and UTSA, but if they can survive in this conference, they’ll prove they belong.
The Broken Sieve Conference
Like scoring? Take the worst scoring defenses in NCAA football and lump them all together. For this year, that means UAB, New Mexico State, Baylor, Indiana, Tulane, Akron, Texas Tech, UNLV, New Mexico and Kansas. The fun part is that not all of these teams are terrible overall, and some of the high scoring just comes from their offensive styles. This is the kind of conference where scoring records are broken and where no students want to be the mascot because they’re afraid of having to do pushups whenever their team scores.
OS readers, what are your favorite custom conferences to use?

I like the Cali-Florida idea. Especially now that conference prestige is dynamic, I think I might try this and give the name Conference USA some meaning. Now if we could just edit conference names...
As for the Texas conference, that's something I usually do with the Big 12. I like to make a few moves to break them into a Texas and North division.

here is something a buddy and I did that has been really fun so far and has made for great matchups not just for us individually but across the whole ncaa landscape:

just be careful to readjust the other conferences after taking care of these 4 because otherwise you will have conferences with like 4-5 teams in them and teams will end up playing FCS teams 6 times a year. We forgot to do this in our first season so we had teams like marshall, ucf (not trying to hate but they played like 5 fcs teams), fiu, and a few others going like 12-0, 11-1. but other than that its a ton of fun

I think the All-Texas conference is great. Making conferences regional is great, as well. The Mountain West and the old WAC need to be sorted out. The Big East needs some tweaking, too. The possible combinations go on and on.

I brought back the old 16-team WAC last year, played about 4 years in it with BYU, definitely my favorite so far.

The Cali-Florida idea is interesting. I've never thought to do that before. I'll have to check that out next time I roll a new dynasty.

Ncaa Football 13 Ps3

I almost always go with regional conferences. I've done Texas Leagues in the past, but I usually find that it tends to weaken too much, so I usually separate out the north and west Texas teams with the southern ones. One particular alignment I like is to make the ACC seem a little more coastal and regional and turn it into a 14 team league made up of a Floridas Division and a Carolinas Division. Another alignment I've used in the past is turn the MWC into a 16 team super conference with a Mountains Division and a Plains Division.
However, I just started using Mr. Nation's Relegation League settings and am liking what I'm seeing: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ion-final.html
